Keep Walking and Growing · Chapter 19
Fruit That Grows Over Time
Chapter summary
Finn thinks his windowsill bean plant never changes until Dad compares it with an earlier photograph. After losing a game to his sister, Finn pauses and drinks water rather than accusing her of cheating. He still grumbles, but returns to apologise; remembering an earlier card-throwing outburst reveals modest growth. The chapter explains all nine qualities of the Spirit’s fruit and Jesus’s vine-and-branches picture: character grows through dependence on God, practice and supportive relationships. Readers explore one quality with a trusted adult, plan a helpful response before a difficult situation, ask others about gradual changes, and repair harm when needed. Growth is not a daily spirituality score or a way to earn love.
