Your Walk Starts Here
Sam knew the right answer. His group at church had been talking about loving your neighbour, and he had put his hand up straight away. Be kind. Help people. Treat them well. Easy.
On Monday, a new student called Theo stood near the lunch tables. He held a sandwich in one hand and his school bag in the other. Every seat seemed to belong to someone, even the empty ones.
Sam noticed him. Then he noticed his friends arguing about a game. He wanted to hear who had won. Theo could probably find somewhere else to sit.
The words from Sunday came back to him. Loving your neighbour sounded much simpler inside a classroom than it felt with your friends watching. What if Theo was awkward? What if everyone expected Sam to look after him all week?
Sam did not hear a voice or see a sign. He already knew enough to make one kind choice. He moved his bag from the bench. ‘You can sit here if you want.’
Theo sat down. He did not suddenly become Sam’s best friend. He talked quietly, and Sam had to ask him to repeat his name. But there was now a place at the table. A lesson Sam had heard became something another person could experience.

Closing prayer
Father, thank You for loving me and welcoming me through Jesus. Help me understand Your grace. Holy Spirit, show me where I can put my faith into action today. Give me courage to take one loving step, and help me return to You when I get things wrong. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
