Begin Your Walk · Chapter 5
Courage When You Feel Afraid
Chapter summary
Finn prepares a class talk but remains frightened despite praying. His teacher helps him rehearse and allows notes. During the presentation he loses his place, asks for a moment, and continues, although he forgets material. Courage means taking a supported step, not eliminating fear. The teaching explains the contexts of Joshua's commission and Jesus calming the storm without promising automatic success or immediate relief. Readers should distinguish safe discomfort from danger, pray honestly, prepare one small step, and identify support. Threats and dangerous dares require moving towards safety and adult help. Persistent fear disrupting sleep, school or everyday life warrants further support, and different accommodations may be needed.
