Faith with Other People · Chapter 6
Friendship Without Pretending
Chapter summary
Sam values belonging to a lunch group after feeling awkward at a new school. When Max excludes newcomer Owen, Sam laughs along, then regrets it. His aunt helps him plan a different response. He apologises to Owen and sits with him elsewhere; one friend joins them, but Max does not. The chapter explores friendship's influence, honest love, and belonging without compromising conscience. Readers should thank a supportive friend, practise a calm boundary, and invite someone into an activity without forcing participation. Kindness does not require constant availability, compulsory lending or harmful secrets. Threats, control and unsafe pressure require adult support; changing friendships may also involve ordinary sadness rather than wrongdoing.
